People forget how hard outside parties (outside of the Democratic party machine) had to work to elect Biden in 2020. It was unprecedented and that much effort was required even after Trump f-d up the COVID response. It made Democratic leaders complacent. It was never about the Democratic party reaching voters with a bold message of its own. The biggest risk for 2028 is a 3rd party spoiler.
