In reply to the discussion: No more "Jesus Christ Superstar" at the Kennedy Center. Marco Rubio calls it an attack on Christianity [View all]Norbert
(7,300 posts)53. JCS was an attempt to modernize the final days of Jesus Christ
in a way young people in 1970 could relate to. Back then, I talked to a friend who eventually became a minister. He is one who would go around saying "Jesus loves you" back in the day and I took it in the spirit that it was intended to be. He could not get enough of Jesus Christ Superstar and actually turned me on to Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat.
He practiced his Christianity every day. I have no doubt any modern-day adaptation of JCS would appeal to him. Little Marco is a CINO (Christian in Name Only) and should just STFU.

Yep, they think they are fighting a "culture war". We are the culture. We won the war.

He is listed as an "Ex Officio Member Designated by Act of Congress", but I'm not sure that list is completely current.

Why is the Secretary of State complaining about a theater production in the first place?

One of the times I saw this musical in the 70's, the first two rows were seated with nuns!

I believe I know what Rubio's problem is with JCSS: It's the WRONG KIND OF JESUS!
