(1,029 posts)USA has had a strong Fascist subculture for over 100 years, well before WWII. Carried on through McCarthy and John Birchers in the 60's. Sure there were a few swings to the center in the 60's and with Clinton and Obama, but other than that the country has moved steadily to the Right.
The modern upswing that led to MAGA was kicked off in earnest in the decade after Nixon, largely because of their cheerleader Rush Limbaugh. Then the emergence of a figurehead like Trump was just a matter of time.
Reality is that we've never been free from Fascist tyranny here in America. It was built into the structure of our government from day 1. And now with the modern Corporate TechnoState continually monitoring us every single minute of our lives, we are really screwed.
