I've met a lot of smart people over the last 10 years who are proud of the fact they don't vote and refuse to follow the news. They are willfully ignorant and resent people who aren't.

When politics becomes an unavoidable subject like during a presidential election they usually take the view that both parties are horrible and no matter who wins we're all screwed. And they're convinced that Democrats are worse because we're all socialists who want to raise their taxes to pay for government handouts to deadbeats.

And they're dedicated to avoiding any of the crazy things Trump says or tweets. Out of sight out of mind. All they know is he looks presidential and sounds like a strong leader. So they figure everything is fine.

They are either unaware of Trump's criminality, corruption and cruelty or they pretend they don't know anything about it.
