This table only goes thru 2023. The CDC table below shows 2024, but doesn't go back as far as the statista data.

The differences in the data reflect the source of the information. CDC uses death certificates. Statista uses police and news reports. I think the CDC data would be more inclusive, but I wanted to show the longer term trend also.
I blame Trump for this. His hate filled rhetoric emboldened his base to more openly engage in hate and violence. Even during the term of President Biden, Trump's language set the tone for the continued high levels of hate in our nation.
So much for the few deaths comments by Charlie Kirk. That's a whole lot of deaths.
