It was for saying things that some significant portion of the population find unacceptable.
As I hinted on another thread - you can like farm animals without any threat to your job or freedom. But while saying so in public cant get you imprisoned in most cases
you arent likely to keep your job.
Yes - Trump is taking advantage of that fact to get things he wants - but the targets made it easy for him
