(74 posts)And this isn't my first Christmas alone and probably won't be the last. My wife is with her extended family over in the Dallas area. Her family has 3 major family gatherings each year: 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve. They're "small" gatherings of usually 80-100 relatives. I went to the Thanksgiving one last month. This Christmas, my work schedule butted right up to Christmas on both ends, working Saturday and again having to work next Wednesday. So, I told Kat to go ahead and leave Thursday morning for Dallas. I and our two fur kids (a 20-month old English Mastiff and a 13-month old Labrador retriever mix who we rescued from the local Humane Shelter a year ago) would stay here. They're both curled up on our office futon as I type this.
