In reply to the discussion: Jane Goodall has Passed Away [View all]JoetheShow
(139 posts)67. I Picked Up "In the Shadow of Man" at the used book store without knowing anything about her.
It just looked interesting. That began my interest in her
Back in 1987 she gave a talk at the Sedgwick County Zoo. There were just 10 - 20 people there. It was embarrassing because I didn't want her to think we were just another podunk town. Nevertheless, she was very gracious. It also gave us a good chance to interact with her.
I remember she was a guest on Colbert's show a couple of years ago. She said Chimpanzees were not her favorite animal as they were too much like humans. She liked dogs because they have such unconditional love.
Safe journey Ms Goodall. The world is a poorer place without you.

She was also my hero. Thank you for letting us know. Ms. Goodall was a beautiful human being in every way.

She lived my kind of life. A life spent more with animals than people. RIP Jane.

She inspired my major in anthropology in the 70's. I started studying baboons.
