(5,168 posts)based in West African, Nigerian, Yoruban traditions. (It has something to do with a style of divination, too. Right?) I was thinking specifically of Afro-Caribbean Yoruba-based traditions, such as Santeria (Afro-Cuban). Candomblé has Orishas, too, but it's Brazillian. In the Caribbean, there's also Haitian Vodou, but it has Loa (like Papa Legba) instead of Orishas. And of course there are probably other traditions that I am unaware of.
I am not a practitioner of any of these traditions, but I have known practitioners. I have studied these traditions both as personal interest and academically as world religions, so it came into my thoughts that it might be appropriate to appeal to the Orishas since they are part of the Afro-Caribbean traditions, and was hoping someone here might have more of a personal connection than myself. (Could that be you?) I know they like offerings (these don't have to be sacrifices, just food, etc.)... Whatever helps?
