(981 posts)39. It's still important to them, whether they give a damn or not.
Last summer, I briefly passed through Brooklyn and left on a big boat that went out from there, and saw NYC from that vantage point on a beautiful misty morning. It is a unique gem of a city that may even be the equal of San Francisco in looks and certainly in culture. These are America's gemstones. They are our "world class" cities.
I remember being at a suishi bar in LA once in the mid 80's, sitting next to a couple of people talking about the NY vs. LA thing. One of them spoke in a pretty strong Japanese accent and said, "New York City is not American, but America would not be America without New York City". That kind of stuck with me.

OP
Was looking forward to Beshear's appearance last night. He bombed, little more than insufferable platitudes.

I always review Maher's shows by the number of times I cringe. But I like the format and dialogue, for good or bad.

But, favorite Maher joke- "Two things Republicans can't stand . . One, being called a racist . . (2) Black people."

I suppose if you listen to everythink looking for something to gripe about. Overall, I'll take Maher to most in his line

Isn't that the truth... Damn. I have HBO-MAX, but I haven't watched in more than three years.

It was not enough for bigoted, misogynistic men to push the con artist onto the country
