John Catsimatidis swore that if Zohran Mamdani got elected Mayor of NYC, that he'd sell all his supermarkets and move to Florida.
John Catsimatidis thought himself a king-maker and used his radio station and hosts to ensure that Mamdani would not win. He went as far as to turn against a popular host, Curtis Sliwa. (Sliwa was so ubiquitous on the station, it was a known joke that ABC stood for "Always Broadcasting Curtis". Sliwa was the republican candidate for Mayor. "Cats" and his minions (hosts Rosenberg and Carter) dedicated air time to call for Sliwa to drop out of the race like current Mayor Eric Adams. But Sliwa hung in there and got 7% of the votes.
So, now call "Cats" CACO, for Catsimatidis always chickens out.

Influential billionaire GOP donor John Catsimatidis — a fierce critic of socialist Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani — now says he wants New York conservatives to work with the incoming administration to ensure the Big Apple’s success.
The grocery store magnate hosted a round-table style panel at his WABC radio studio on Monday with right-leaning bigwigs like former NYPD Chief of Department John Chell and one-time Republican mayoral candidate Fernando Mateo.
“The one thing that we all hold in common is that we all love New York… and we want New York to thrive like it always has,” the Gristedes supermarket owner said during the unusual press conference.
