However, there might be a bias for loudmouth bigots to post hateful stuff in order to validate themselves. Finding likeminded people as reassurance that they are superior in the face of so much community opposition.

In other words, may be a coping mechanism for people realizing that their neighbors really do not agree with their viewpoints. Just a hunch.
