(7,450 posts)Sadly lacking in critical thinking skills, and unable to self evaluate and revise their belief system on any topic in the light of new information.
Their belief system is locked solid, and focussed on a simple fact - Trump promised to make their lives better, the whole MAGA slogan says so.
They are locked in, thinking that all the need to do is believe, stay faithful, and Good Things will come their way, one day.
If you never bought into Trump's promise of a better time, then you aren't in the cult.
It takes a certain personality type to become a mindless cult member and hand over your natural self-interest and self-preservation drives to a cult leader.
You and I aren't that sort.
Never were, never will be.
But they are out there, the potential Jonestown flavor aid drinkers, the Waco compound siege defenders, the ones who stare at the clouds waiting for the Mothership to come fetch them to a better place.
MAGAts are easier to understand if you realize they are closet anarchists, who feel the whole system is doing them wrong, and want someone to burn it all down, then stand back and watch a spontaneous rebirth, a rising from the ashes, and create a world more to their liking.
History tells us, such a rebirth never happens. It takes decades of collective toil to get back to where you were as a country before things went up in flames.
But MAGAts aren't students of history.
