25. It was the Nuremberg trials that highlighted the question of the duty of military personnel to obey orders.

Nazi officers and enlisted troops argued that they were not responsible for war crimes if they "just were following orders." The court rejected that argument. Of course it would upset a fascist dictator to have the legitimacy of his orders questioned by his military.
