and spending the day with my grandmother. I was waiting for her to make one of her famous grilled cheese sandwiches, when the news came over the kitchen radio. She came running into the dining area, exclaiming "Oh my God, someone just shot the President."

A few days later my mother and I were watching live TV when Jack Ruby silenced Lee Harvey Oswald.

I was fascinated with Caroline during the funeral.
