In reply to the discussion: "Are you stupid? Are you a stupid person? You're just asking questions because you're a stupid person!" [View all]Miles Archer
(21,122 posts)16. When I worked in "the private sector" (Cubicle Land, Silicon Valley) the pressure to "socialize" was INTENSE.
Every cliche you've ever heard about "teams" and "teamwork," like "There's no "I" in team," all of the platitudes, repeated endlessly.
And if you've seen the movie "Office Space," that's what it was really like. Especially when they showed the reaction to "Hawaiian Shirt Day." A sea of faces belonging to people who really didn't like each other, who realized if you didn't FEEL it, you had to PRETEND you did, or you were HOSED.
So taking the long route to answer your question, anyone who spoke like that would be well on their way to being ousted from the company.
Maybe not one outburst. They'd be in the doghouse for that, but repeat offenses?
I think they call it "Career Suicide."

Do you know what is stupid Trump? Needlessly flooding DC with military personnel to appease your peacockness.

I work (labor) in a manufacturing plant and the groupthink is very strong from management.
