In reply to the discussion: What would the world look like if the NAZIs had won World War II? [View all]Moonwalk
(2,322 posts)20. One of most BRILLIANT, most amazing alternate history books ever written...

But really it's more about what would have have happened if the Japanese (and the Nazis) won WWII, with the focus on an alternate 1960's world where the Western half of the U.S. has been under the control of the Japanese empire for 20 years; the Eastern Nazi half is talked about, but is not the focus of the story.
However, P.K. Dick did start to write a sequel to the novel where he *did* focus on the Nazi half of America...he stopped after deciding it was too depressing and there was no way he could finish it. So that was how he would answer the question.
If you haven't read Man in a High Castle get it and read it--NOW. No other author as ever written a better, smarter alternate history on the topic of WWII and "what if the losers had won instead?" Really. Others writers have tried, but no one--no one--has ever been able to top this book. It isn't just a great thought experiment, it is a literary masterpiece.

Historically speaking, Hitler could've conceivably won if the Business Plot succeeded against FDR.

That is a fascinating question and a good reminder: USA forgave the Japanese War Criminals, too.

If the Nazis had gone through with Generalplan Ost, the Holocaust would be an addendum.
