Regarding Mr. Dick's book: I look forward to an excellent read. The Japanese and German governments, I remember, had plans to divide up the world. Then, they'd turn on each other for final victory.
"We" by Eugene Zamiatin was published in 1924. The guy was one of the Russian Revolution's intellectual lights. He didn't like the way the democrats and Mensheviks got the ziggy, courtesy of Lenin and Stalin. Anyway, his novel predates 1984 and Brave New World. Every person in the world has a number -- It also discusses the military conquest of space. Absolutely amazing read. Here is one translation in PDF form:

(Sorry about Mises, it's just a repository for this book.)
As Harry Harrison wrote in his dedication to Bill the Galactic Hero: "For my shipmate Brian W. Aldiss who is reading the sextant and plotting the course for us all."
