In reply to the discussion: HOW did a generation of young men's brains get f-ed up enough to produce this bigotry about Jolie? [View all]cui bono
(19,926 posts)It's so easy for them to see it happening it seems normal. And I'm talking about hard core stuff, not just how advertising or video games do it. I'm talking about porn and things. It is so easy for someone of any age to get hard core porn and so I'm sure boys see things at an early age that grown men used to not have seen in a lifetime before the ease of the internet arrived.
And then there's all the stupid comments that people post, thinking they're so tough because they're anonymous on the internet.
I feel like we've gone through the era where boys saw their mom's working and respected women more to one where they ahve the interenet and "girls gone wild" and think women are there just as sexual exploits.
Of course there's also the fact that people post things on the internet that they would never say in real life. But I still feel like things have really gone backwards since the arrival of the internet and I agree that there needs to be more conversations about that and other things so that parents are teaching their kids, not some other moronic teens they read comments from online.
