We have a body of information, including past Syrian practice, that leads us to conclude that regime officials were witting of and directed the attack on August 21.

Definition of WITTING

1: cognizant or aware of something : conscious <a witting participant>
2: done deliberately : intentional <a witting violation>

Examples of WITTING

<she was a witting partner; he had told her about the risk involved>
<your witting assistance in helping the robber escape makes you an accessory after the fact>

First Known Use of WITTING

circa 1520

A double bonus with the nice example of preposition stranding as well.

Other than that, not a lot of new news.
