14. The inside has plenty of flaws too.

All the weird bends and curlicues make for a lot of wasted space on the inside. Some of it looks neat, especially since, unlike the outside, it's not trying to coexist with the cool 1960s Zeerust of the Seattle Center, but there's surprisingly little square footage devoted to the exhibits for such a big building. Which is a problem, what with it being a museum and all.


Compare it to the downtown library:


It's architecture-as-ornament, too, but it doesn't look like a melted pile of crap, and they remembered to lay out the inside so that they could put a bunch of books in it. Although it too has a fair amount of underutilized space, such as this frankly unnerving 1970s dystopian sci-fi hallway:
