2. Well off people got rich off the crash and depression of 1929.

They bought up land, houses, business, on the cheap, often pennies on the dollar. After the recovery, whatever they bought was worth far, far more than what they paid for it. The upper crust is not afraid of any depression or crash. They will profit from it.
Only the little people suffered and will suffer next time too.
