2014 Operation Protective Edge
On July 16, 2014, Mohyeldin witnessed and reported via a series of tweets, the death of 4 Palestinian children who were playing soccer and hide-and-seek on a Gaza beach.[11] Two Israeli missiles seemed to target the children. The first allegedly killed one child and the second killed the other 3. The killings were witnessed by many in the international press. [12][13] Press arrived at the scene and reported that there was no evidence of military targets or activities in the area.[14]
Although Mohyeldin was a live witness to the event[15], NBC correspondant Richard Engel reported the story from Tel Aviv. NBC followed by pulling Mohyeldin from Gaza and terminating his reporting duties from Gaza indefinitely. Engel was sent to replace him in Gaza.[16] NBC has been subsequently criticized by independent media outlets for removing Mohyeldin. NBC has not explained its actions[17] and reasons for pulling Mohyeldin, but it is believed by some [18] that it is being pressured to suppress information of atrocities in Gaza.

I'm guessing they wanted reporters who are more pro-Israel to do their reporting:

If this country is allowing its journalists to be threatened by an alleged "ally", rethink it now.

Mohyeldin is Egyptian/Palestinian; Engel does not threaten NBC News in that way.

NBC/MSNBC has a whole flock of shows DUers like to watch, like Rachel Maddow. Yet so many here...

FWiW I think it's more basic than that- Shana'a wasn't targeted for something he saw
