we would not have to bomb terrorists in Iraq (or somewhere) if we hadn't invaded Iraq. There is about a century of stuff that we've engaged in in that part of the world, for better or worse, as I posted downthread to Treasonous Bastard.

However, if you tell me that shooting yourself in the foot is the solution to the bullet wound that is already in your foot, I can demur, even if I don't know what the solution might be.
