The weapon was his father's pistol. The notes were in his handwriting. Either way, the "authorities" whoever they are in the secret government, drove Webb out of his job, ruined his family, followed him threateningly, and did all they could to kill him and his reporting.

Webb was working on the US Army recruiting story and how video games were helping condition youth for the warmaking needs of the future.
