Hillary Clinton can win, and the Democrats are playing it safe [View all]

It doesn't seem like there are going to be any serious contenders for the Democratic nomination, if there are going to be any contenders at all. Of course, I could be wrong and surprises do happen, but as of today, the media isn't even speculating about it, which is almost the only thing the media does these days.

This leads me to conclude that it's as done a deal as anything we've ever seen before. Warren has said she won't run. Who else has even entertained the idea? While the Republicans have a handful of potential candidates, even with Romney bowing out, the Democrats have literally made Hillary Clinton the foregone conclusion. The Republicans even talk about running the "best candidate who can beat Hillary Clinton".

The Democrats are not going to take risks, it seems, with other unknown possibilities. Hillary Clinton can win, and that's all they're focusing on right now. While the Republicans destroy each other in a long - and more importantly, costly - primary fight, the Democrats have decided to pool all their resources behind one candidate and show Americans a unified front.

The prospect of the first woman president following the first black president is also a very appealing one, not to mention having Obama's support and a strong economy emerging under his watch. Right now the biggest mistake the Democrats can make is to repeat election 2000 all over again. I believe this time they will tout the accomplishments of the president, which are numerous despite constant opposition.

So get ready, because it's Hillary 2016.
