Instead, the link is correctly drawn between the same tactics used in two particular types of bad thinking. No one has suggested that that anti-vax beliefs cause anti-GMO beliefs, nor vice versa. One poster has observed that "Most of the Anti-Vaxxers I know are also Anti-GMO," but even he doesn't assert that one causes the other.
The correlation in this context doesn't mean that one is necessarily associated with the other; it simply means that the proponents of each viewpoint (anti-vax and anti-GMO) have latched onto the same tactics in their zeal to make their claims.
Again, the comparison is far from nonsense. Posters in this thread have demonstrated the validity of the comparison many times over.
