You really should write an OP as it is so great to hear from the people who were actually there. I would do it, but I would love to read your own first hand experiences along with the photos.
I loved this part of your comment:
P.S.--Obviously I didn't strictly adhere to the "No Buy" rule for M1GS. I had to buy train fare to L.A. (discounted fare, $13 round-trip), the cookies were $1.25, and the coffees were $4.something (including one for a Skid Row resident who only had a few coins in his pocket--and when he got his donated coffee, he put his coins into the donation box for Ronald McDonald House.
Paying it forward, that was such a beautiful gesture from him, as I am sure he could have used that money himself. Not to worry about the few dollars you spent. I at least managed to not spend anything or drive but it doesn't make up for not being there.
