What are people thinking when they abandon pets?

40. 99% of the people who do this are slimy, pathetic excuses for human beings

I volunteer at animal rescue walking dogs and we just took in a dog that was left behind when her owners were evicted. They packed up their crap and left her there. A really sweet dog, gentle and mellow who damn sure didn't deserved to be abandoned.

In the I've spent there I've seen strays and puppy mills and abandoned dogs and even a couple of abused dogs, all who had every right to dislike humans, yet invariably they are happy and grateful for the attention and petting the volunteers give them.

There are far too many no-kill shelters willing to take in a dog to just abandon a dog without even trying to find the dog a new home.

So yes, I most definitely hate my species as well, most of us can only dream to be as decent a living thing as the average dog.
