(18,312 posts)a fucking nightmare. I live about 1/2 mile North of the city. I work about 1 mile north of the city. The week before he comes, when the World Meeting of Familes or what the fuck ever, and the weekend he's here, is going to be a goddamned nightmare for traffic. The Trains are only stopping at a few stations, and only making inbound trips in the AM, and outbound trips in the PM. For people like my husband and I who use the trains/EL/subway/busses to get to/from work, we're basically stranded. My husband and I are RN's---he works in the ER and has no idea how he is going to get to work that week, because the train that takes him to and from work isn't going to be able to take him to and from work. The 2 busses I use to get to and from work aren't going to be able to take me to and from work.
ANd these aren't rumors, these are on SEPTA's website. This is information from the Mayor's mouth.
It's a goddamned nightmare and as a Philadelphia resident, I get *no* benefit from it *at all* aside from a monumental headache and the possibility of both members of the household losing our jobs because we don't have wings to fly across the city to get to our jobs.
