(20,176 posts)I've been there...not first-hand, but second-hand...my stepfather has a standing 3 month appointment with the dermatologist because he's super pale (He's Irish and one of his sisters was seemingly an albino. She didn't have the white hair or pink eyes but her melanin level in her skin was non-existent. That's not what killed her...she had a heart attack during surgery and died when they took her off bypass after attempting to stem the damage) and catches melanomas like some people catch a cold.
Thus far, we've had good luck....he hasn't needed chemo, but every time he goes, they find something to cut off him and about half the time they end up doing more cutting post-biopsy. His shoulders and back are starting to look like a jigsaw puzzle with pieces missing.
Congrats on the clean bill of health...and invest in good sunscreen and decent UV-protective clothes if you're going to be spending a lot of time outside.
