(67,221 posts)There is no "they." Or rather, there are two "theys."
There are Republicans, who control what Congress will and won't do. Republicans control all the committees in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. They decide what bills get discussed. They decide what investigations - if any - get opened. They will chair all such hearings. We know how the Republicans will handle this. We see how Ryan and McConnell are acting.
Then there are the Democrats. They have no power in Congress to open investigations, hold hearings, or advance bills. All the Democrats can do is talk to the press. They can give interviews - if anyone will interview them. Fox News won't give Democrats a fair platform. Breitbart won't. Facebook won't. Democratic senators and congress people can talk to the New York Times or the Washington Post, but the people they need to convince don't read or trust those sources.
And issues involving national security aren't typically discussed with the media.
So I'm not sure how we get out of this mess.
