MADISON Covert videos of Democratic activists released in the run-up to last years presidential election showed no violations of Wisconsin laws, a review by the attorney generals office found.
The blunt conclusion is at odds with how Republican Attorney General Brad Schimel initially reacted to the videos by conservative provocateur James OKeefe, who has a track record of mischaracterizing his recordings and was found guilty of a misdemeanor in 2010 over one of his operations.
Schimels office released a statement in October calling the actions by Democrats on the undercover videos apparent violations of the law and saying Schimel was very concerned about them.
But one of Schimels assistants came to a very different conclusion when he reviewed the recordings.
Based on all the available facts I do not believe there is any basis to conclude that the videos demonstrate or suggest violations of Wisconsin criminal laws, Assistant Attorney General Roy Korte wrote in a Jan. 31 memo ending the investigation.........

Although happened in WI-this is of national interest because O'Keefe has pulled these stunts in other states (a few listed in article). Problem is-here is WI, we have a Repug Attorney General who wanted to make a big deal of the tape-even though he and his assistance had evidence early on that there was no there there!
Schimel --the WI Attorney Gen. is a sick soul-always willing to use taxpayer money to try to find something to blame onto Democrats!2
