Anybody who's ever loved someone with the disease of Alopecia can see past that front. Or even most people with empathy who have listened to her talking about her struggles.
The reason her bald head is so liberating is because SHE CAN'T LOSE ANY MORE HAIR. She finally took control when she shaved it all off -- because of the disease, not because she loves being bald. She has talked about how devastated she was a few years ago, as she was trying to live with the diagnosis, watching herself lose more and more hair. But her daughter finally convinced her to stop fighting it and to shave her head -- and her daughter shaved her own head, as an ally.
That does NOT give any of the rest of us reason to say she wouldn't be upset about a bald headed joke. She's doing her best to live with it, saying she's decided God must have wanted this for her. But she doesn't need people to bring her shaved head into their comedy routines.
