To tell you honestly, I didn't really care what those overpaid artists were doing. Everyone knows artists do outrageous things and some of their true proclivities come out at the Oscars, even though they like to pretend they are a different breed of artists...more sophisticated or something.
But you explain it well. It was a bad joke, no violence required.
I mean those roasts where some celebrity is chosen to honor with funny insults is not my cup of tea. Insults to me are not funny when directed at others but Redd Foxx made a nice living off it. So, it has always been considered fair game for comedians.
I once paid to see a comedian act in a New York night club and for some reason, I became the butt of 25 percent of his jokes. My spouse did not get up and slap him. It was funny, flattering at insulting all at the same time. I paid to see that.
Will Smith was displaying some out of whack behavior. He obviously hasn't seen a comic show in some time.
