In reply to the discussion: Multiple fatalities after Walmart shooting in Chesapeake: Police [View all]Cheezoholic
(2,006 posts)23. Most police unions support some form of control
Here in Indiana they just passed an extra insane open carry law that was fiercely opposed by the State Police. It's extra insane because police are not allowed to ask a person if there's a weapon in the car during a traffic stop unless there is suspicion of a crime being committed with a weapon. In other words, they are now being forced to walk up to the vehicles not only blind but with both hands tied behind their backs. Within 2 weeks of the law being passed a local 24 year old officer in the small town near where I live was fatally shot during a routine traffic stop. This was the first officer killed in the line of duty in this small farm town of 6k ever.
