I hope that they are both given sentences so long that they can NEVER pose a threat to society as a whole or another person. Maybe with a lot of therapy, the son could be rehabilitated, but the father is beyond hope..
Of course, that would mean real, genuine mental health care on prison, which the son is highly unlikely to get.
