Posting on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the call lasted about an hour and 15 minutes, and the leaders discussed Kyivs audacious weekend drone attack on long-range Russian bombers.
We discussed the attack on Russias docked airplanes by Ukraine, and also various other attacks that have been taking place by both sides, Trump said. It was a good conversation, but not a conversation that will lead to immediate peace.

President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields, Trump said, warning that the Kremlin was likely to launch attacks to avenge the drone raids on Russian airbases one at least 3,000 miles from the Ukrainian border that destroyed at least 12 sophisticated Russian bombers. Ukraine said it had damaged 41 aircraft, causing $7 billion worth of damage.
Trump did not say in his post that the White House has demanded constraint, or that he had tried to dissuade Putin from taking action. There is no indication that Trump has spoken to his Ukrainian counterpart, President Zelensky.
