They SHOULD know that the reason Trump won (by the narrowest winning margin, popular-vote wise, in a really long time) is because Democrats weren't "excited enough" about Harris, a POC woman from California with baggage (unfairly, but it was seen that way by many) and stayed home in November. If Dems are canny enough to pick an Obama or Bill Clinton type of candidate in 2028, who can excite the base, their clocks will be cleaned (possibly in the Senate as well), and then all this kind of bullshit they're pulling will be turned about on themselves.

That's assuming that "Congress" and "Elections" haven't been abolished entirely by Dicktator Donnie by then.
