We do need a sympathetic Supreme Court to provide legal standing for any Constitutional amendments to gun rights which we may be able to pass. So it may take generations and the expansion of The Court to get it done. It will be very hard to pacify this nation built on our TV glorification of fictional gun violence with folks who can't tell the difference between a movie theater and a hospital trauma center.
