they saw as not particularly feminist oriented. This was back in the 70s. Little did they know that they were setting up sitting targets, but at the time the thinking was "women caring for women." I worked at one such clinic in New Haven, now gone. I was there in the 80s and I saw what was happening. Those were the days of the bombings of clinics and the invasion of clinics. The crazies tried this once when I was there. They didn't get very far. We had a group of friends form a human chain in front of the clinic and escorts for the patients (which we had regularly). Plus, we had some board members with ties to the city admin. so we got police protection.

As for gyn's offices, I think at some point they did do simple first trimester suction abortion but as time went on the procedure got more professional and more often offering twilight anesthesia. So it got a little more complicated. Also, there really is no way a gyn doc could successfully hide the fact that she did abortions in her office and thus she would be even more threatened. So the docs would come to clinics to do them.
