A convicted U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) agent has said his former employer inflates its success rate in capturing drug trafficking leaders in Colombia, reported Noticias Uno Sunday.

According to the report convicted DEA agent Fausto Aguero sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder. In the letter Aguero said, "very low key subjects are accused of being drug lords or leaders of drug trafficking organizations. Aguero said agents regularly falsify reports to keep funding coming to the agency and to receive promotions.

The former agent was arrested January 13 of last year and found guilty of cocaine and weapons trafficking. Aguero is currently in a Bogota prison awaiting extradition to the U.S.
