We are immensely saddened at Beyond Nuclear and shocked by the tragic news regarding the assassinations of staff at the French satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo.

As the Réseau "Sortir du nucléaire" writes:

"Charlie Hebdo has been at the cutting edge of the denunciation of the nuclear threat and has always stood alongside anti-nuclear activists since its creation in 1969, and even before that with its prior magazine, Hara Kiri which began in 1960.

Thousands of people became anti-nuclear after reading articles in Hara Kiri and then in Charlie Hebdo.

Lost of its artists, including Charb, the magazine's editor, have put their reputation to the service of the anti-nuclear fight, notably in publishing drawings in many of our own publications. A few years ago, Charb lent his support to mobilization against nuclear weapons.

Our thoughts for a speedy recovery go to Fabrice Nicolino, the author of the excellent series, The Nuclear Scam.

Resistance against human stupidity in general and against nuclear in particular has lost some precious defenders. Under the shock, the Réseau "Sortir du nucléaire" wishes to share its immense sadness and to mark its solidarity with the families of the victims of this heinous attack on the freedom of expression and democracy.
