H.R. 1319 - To amend the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 and the National Labor Relations Act
This will clarify the standard for determining whether an individual is an employee, and for other purposes.
What this bill will do, is to redefine if your an employee.or.a contract worker.
Why does this matter?
Because if you suddenly become a contract worker, you will lose your medical benefits through your company, and you'll have to get your medical benefits on your own.
You're company is no longer liable to pay any payroll taxes like SS, Medicare/Medicaid & Unemployment benefits. All that now falls on you to make all those payments along with paying your own taxes.
Last but not least, you'll no longer get paid for vacation benefits. If you want to take a vacation, you'll have to absorb all those costs on your own. No vacation pay at all.
Now, there is no doubt, the Senate (D)'s will block this, so it never see's the light of day.
But the insidious secrecy of the House (R)'s to announce a recess then go behind locked doors to come up with this bill is typical (R) move to avoid any news cycle.
