1. We had backpack nukes in the Sixties.

They were man portable nuclear devices meant to be deployed in the Fulda Gap, where Russian forces were expected to invade Western Europe. My good friend, a former Special Forces Sergeant Major, told me about being trained to deploy them. It wasn't one of his favorite tasks.
