(38,363 posts)I also remember many times it being so cold you had to figure out a way to dress for winter and wear a costume at the same time. I remember a few times that it snowed on Halloween. I probably went trick-or-treating until I was 12. (I'm 63 now, so these memories are from the '60s). My Dad went with me and my sister when we were small, once we got older we went with our friends. We always came home with a big bag full of candy and my parents didn't have to worry about what was in it.
I remember being mad at my mother one year because she would not let me dress up as a "hobo" ..... she said that was not an appropriate costume for a little girl!
My husband (he's 72) said when he was a kid, he and his friends trick-or-treated for about 3 days prior to Halloween as well as on Halloween!
