Only the stupid ones leave the doors unlocked and probably had snacks or gum or something in there that he wanted.
What's even funnier is the human being so chicken about opening the door...honestly, the bear could care LESS about you, these guys are SO cuddly and all they want is food. I have stood on the front porch and talked to the momma bear as she and her babies ate the apples off the neighbors tree, she maybe glanced at me once, but then just ignored me.
Damn they are smart though! 
Over the summer, there was a public service announcement for us not to leave the "key" in the bear box because they had figured out how to turn the key and get into the trash!
