I hate to sound like a prepper, but I constantly have a "contingency plan" at this point. Life is the US is uncertain and scary- the only way to "beat the system" is to have several million in the bank.

We sure won't be on "Easy Street" in two years, but we WILL be able to make it til SS kicks in. I keep my short term and long term disability payments up- they come right out of my paycheck. My car is 15 next year- and I have every intention of driving it to the ground.
