Cooking was the priority the day before AND the day off. Wed have to make the dough for hot rolls the day before and let the dough rise, covered, in the fridge, til the next morning when itd be ready to work with. That then became one of my jobs as sous chef.
Food rituals. Sounds like we all have some! Fun (and fattening!) to think back on.
