(1,026 posts)I use a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water on the inside and outside of my car windows. Cleaning the inside the same way as the outside with one exception. On the outside windows, I clean with vertical strokes and on the inside with horizontal strokes so when I'm finished if there are any streaks I can tell whether they're on the outside or inside.
To clean the inside windows, I use a small terrycloth towel and spray it with clean water until it is damp and then wipe the windows and then I dry them immediately with another small terrycloth towel. Once the windows are dry, I repeat this step replacing the water with vinegar and water. Once the windows are dry, I use another small terrycloth towel as a final step to remove any film the vinegar might have left. Once the window feels slick I know it's clean.
This method might sound like a lot of work but it only takes a few minutes and it's effective.
Added: I've tried Windex and other glass cleaning products and found vinegar and water works best.
